How to take care Of People with COVID-19?

IF you are caring for someone who is sick at home, follow these tips:

– Make sure the person stays isolated in a room, away from everyone as much as possible.

– Ask them to use a separate bathroom, if possible or disinfect the washroom after each use.

– Limit visitors in the home and avoid visiting other places.

How to take care of family member with COVID-19?

Most people who get sick with COVID-19 will have only mild illness and should stay at home to recover. Care at home can help to stop the spread of COVID-19 to the community.

– Sick person must wear face mask covering mouth and nose, when they are around other people at home and out (even when visiting doctors).

– Keep 2 meters distance between the person who is sick and  other members.

– Keep people at higher risk separated from anyone who is sick.

– Keep one person assigned to take care of the person who is sick.

– Caregivers should wear a medical mask that covers their mouth and nose, as well as the gloves when in the same room as the patient.

– Clean and disinfect the surfaces, doorknobs, and other commonly touched surfaces daily.

– Don’t share personal items like phones, dishes, bedding, clothes or toys.

– Clean patient’s clothes, bed linen, and towels using regular detergent and water or machine, wash and dry thoroughly.

– Provide a separate or disposable plate/utensils for the sick member to eat separately.

– Call the ambulance for medical emergencies. Tell them that the patient has or is suspected to have COVID-19.

Monitor them for emergency warning signs and get medical attention immediately if they have any of the following:

– Trouble breathing

– Continuing pain or pressure in the chest

– New confusion or if they are unconscious

– Bluish lips or face

– Any other symptoms that are severe or concerning

Make sure the person with COVID-19 does the following:

– Drinks a lot of fluids to stay hydrated.

– Rests at home and eat balanced diet including fruits and vegetables.

– Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.

– For most people, symptoms last a few days and they get better after a week.
