Abu Dhabi Darb Toll: New Timings and Rates (Effective September 1, 2025)

1. What’s Changing — Effective September 1, 2025

  • Evening Toll Hours Extended
The evening toll period will now run from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, instead of the previous 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Morning hours remain 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, Monday to Saturday. Sundays and official public holidays remain toll‑free.

  • Daily & Monthly Caps Removed
The previous toll caps—AED 16 per day and AED 200 / AED 150 / AED 100 monthly depending on vehicle sequence—will be eliminated. From September 1, there’s no cap: each crossing during toll hours incurs the full AED 4 charge.

  • Fee Still AED 4 per Crossing
The toll fee remains AED 4 for each crossing during peak times.

  • Exemptions Stay
Exemptions remain for People of Determination, low-income citizens, senior citizens, retirees, and other approved categories.

  • New Operator
A new company, Q Mobility, will now manage the Darb toll system in collaboration with transport authorities.

4. Why the Changes?

The changes aim to reduce traffic congestion by encouraging drivers to travel outside peak hours or consider public transport. Removing caps discourages excessive private vehicle use during high-traffic periods.

5. What You Should Do

  • Expect more toll charges if you frequently drive during peak hours—there’s no daily/monthly limit now.

  • Plan your travel outside of toll hours or on toll-free days (Sundays and public holidays).

  • Check your exemption eligibility if you’re a senior, low-income citizen, or in other special categories.

6. Final Thoughts

Starting September 1, 2025, Abu Dhabi’s Darb toll system will have extended hours and no more caps. If you drive daily during peak times, your toll expenses may rise. Adjust your commute or explore alternatives to save on costs.
